Job Description:

 

  • The Senior Quality Inspector shall perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with Aerospace Standard AS9102.
  • Performing First Article Gap Analysis, identify and report discrepancies
  • Generate first article inspection (FAI) projects to be used during CMM inspection.
  • Confirmation that the First Article Inspection Record (FAIR) is accurate and completed for a part number or assembly and that all part, product, and characteristic accountability aspects are addressed prior to approval.
  • Perform FAI package reviews and/or audits to ensure compliance with FAI requirements.
  • The candidate will ensure the accuracy and completeness of all engineering design requirements records on the AS9102 forms.
  • Ensure CMM’s integrity, calibration, qualification, etc.
  • The inspections will be performed to engineering requirements specified per ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or equivalent standard.
  • Determines unstated or hidden dimensions from a blueprint, working with fractions, decimals, and trigonometry.
  • Inspect parts, assemblies and finished products in accordance with specifications and/or legal requirements.
  • Follows company’s inspection guidelines to conduct critical non-routine visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical test and functional inspections on a wide variety of components, assemblies, equipment, systems, supplies and materials.
  • Produce inspection reports as appropriate / requested.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Skills Requirement:

  • Seven-plus years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • First article inspector must have extensive knowledge and practical experience of the AS9102 standard.
  • Previous experience in FAIR review / sign-off
  • Strong background in manufacturing in the aerospace or military / defense industries required.
  • Practical experience inspecting aerospace components and assemblies is necessary as well as knowledge of applicable industry standards
  • Experience working with aluminum tubing a plus
  • Inspector must be able to read and understand Purchasing documents, specifications, shop planning, drawings, 3D models and other technical instructions.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Inspector must have proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Net-Inspect software
  • Ability to program Inspection Projects using Discus, PC-DMIS, Calipso or Verisurf software.
  • Strong GD&T knowledge 
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, be detail orientated, self-motivated.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, oscilloscopes, component testers.
  • Ability to analyze data for accuracy and interpret results.
  • Must be proficient in use of computers and software programs.
  • Must be a team player and process driven.
  • The candidate needs to be able to access and use web-based tools and applications with little to no direction.
  • Thorough understanding and experience with AS9100 Standard
  • Thorough understanding and experience with ISO9001
