Position Title: Aerospace Quality Source Inspector

Location: Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule Monday-Thursday 4:00 PM- 12:00 AM or 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Potential Friday/Saturday support required; potentially up to 5 year contract. Based on performance.

Employment Type: VTR W2 Field Employee (or) 1099 with LLC if preferred.

Active Secret Security Clearance is required before accessing the site: Sponsorship for a security clearance may be available; however, preference will be given to candidates already listed in the NISS database.

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Inspector to support the inspection and verification of sub-assemblies and components used in GEMT Missile systems. This role involves performing detailed incoming inspections, stop-point inspections throughout the build process, and ensuring compliance with the Technical Data Package (TDP) and Manufacturing Data Package (MDP). The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical and mechanical inspection, working in hazardous environments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed incoming inspections of electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Perform stop-point inspections during the build process of GEMT Missile components to verify adherence to the TDP.
  • Identify and document nonconformance and noncompliance issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Work in hazardous environments, including exposure to energized equipment and unexploded ordnance, while following strict safety protocols.
  • Assist in reviewing TDP and MDP requirements to support the build process as the quality representative.
  • Provide daily reports on issues, progress, and findings to the Lead Supplier Quality Manager (SQM).
  • Participate in test preparation and execution to ensure requirements verification.
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed and maintained in accordance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical inspection within the aerospace or related industry.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in quality assurance, mechanical engineering, or a related field preferred.

 

Skills:

    • Expertise in conducting first article reviews and AS9102 documentation.
    • Familiarity with AS9102 Rev C
    • Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
    • Skilled in using precision measuring tools and equipment;  such as micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges height gauges, CMM, and hardness testers.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical inspections within a manufacturing or defense environment.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Expertise in conducting First Article Review and AS9102 Standard
  • Familiarity with AS9102 Rev C; preferred
  • Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Skilled in using precision measuring tools and equipment;  such as micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges height gauges, CMM, and hardness testers.
  • Strong knowledge of Technical Data Packages (TDP) and Manufacturing Data Packages (MDP).
  • Ability to work safely in hazardous environments with strict adherence to safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify nonconformance and quality issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide daily reports and collaborate with teams.
  • Experience with missile systems, defense, or aerospace manufacturing is preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Exposure to hazardous materials, energized equipment, and unexploded ordnance.
  • Ability to wear protective equipment as required.
  • May require standing for extended periods and lifting components as needed.
